On 9 June 2018 at Lizori, a very beautiful hamlet in Umbria www.borgolizori.com,
the prize-giving ceremony of the winners of the 1st Meneghetti International Art Price took place.
PAINTING Section: “Reflections” by Paolo Amico (Italy), was awarded by Prof. Franco Marrocco, director of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. The work represents a reflection on the modalities of painting today, reconsidering an analogical vision of the world. Light brings back the theme of beauty in art.
SCULPTURE Section: “Sound Field” by Arnd Christian Muller (Germany). The work is a combination of hand-crafted hammers, unique pieces in a composition in which, when they are activated, they create a play of sounds that reverberates on the surrounding space, acquiring a different spatiality. The hammers represent the industriousness of the homo faber and of the homo ludens.
DESIGN Section: “Man with Hat”, by Lygia de Almeida Marques (Brasil). The prize was received by Elisa De Santis, representing the winning artist, from Dr. Masayuki Koorida, Director of the Shanghai Sculpture Center. Starting from three lines and one point, following the classical declination of full and void, the work builds up an artistic element that illuminates the face of the person who wears it.
FASHION Section: “Beauty, declaration” by Sophie Muhlmann (Italy) who receives the prize from Prof. Riccardo Cordero, artist, previously a teacher at the Turin Academy of Fine Arts. The simplicity and classical elegance underlined by the embroidery on the clothing are completed by the sensitiveness of the declaration of beauty that flanks the work.
